Prussian dismounted officer's saber, model IOD 1889, probabl - Lot 267
Prussian dismounted officer's saber, model IOD 1889, probably offered to a senior officer of the XVIII Corps on the occasion of a transfer or retirement. Very fine blade engraved on one side: "To their most deserving commander and guide Hermann Sohn", on the other "On behalf of the German veterans and the Landwehr Corps. Frankfurt am Main, September 1895 . " . This officer's career could therefore be linked to the 81st regiment of Electoral Hesse, garrisoned in this city. Good overall condition, except for the top pommel nut, which needs refastening, and pitting on the scabbard.
