INDIA- Gujari Ragini or young peacock musician, Deccan School, India, circa 1780, gouache and gold on card, young woman playing the vina in a clearing, surrounded by charmed forest animals, including a peacock doing a cartwheel, from the collection entitled Ragamala, translates the graphic expression of a musical mode, the amorous atmosphere, expressed by the corresponding raga. Dim. 51 x 41 cm, view dim. 13.5 x 19 cm, painting in good condition. Label from Galerie Marco Polo's 1977 exhibition Ragamala, number 882, typewritten, with explanatory note.
