Pair of bergères in carved and gilded molded wood, the medal - Lot 107

Pair of bergères in carved and gilded molded wood, the medallion backs crowned with roses and ribbons, resting on four tapered and fluted legs, the front legs filleted. Upholstered with 18th-century tapestries from the Manufacture de Beauvais. The backs are decorated with a gallant scene, one with a woman carrying a basket and the other with a gentleman playing a pipe, in medallions surrounded by a frieze of laurels, flowers and tied ribbon. The seats are decorated with animals in cartouches. Napoleon III-period floral trim on the cuffs and cheeks. Napoleon III period work in the Louis XVI style (Dim.: 99 x 53 x 71 cm - H. (seat): 47 cm) (some slight loss of gilding, wear to upholstery, particularly that of the seats).
