National Guard officer's shako, mod 1848. - Lot 368
National Guard officer's shako, mod 1848. Cardboard shaft, covered with black taupe felt, trimmed at the top with silver passementerie braid, and at the bottom with a black velvet bourdalou. Black patent leather visor, green waxed inside. Silver-plated copper plate depicting a rooster with outstretched wings on a globe, against a background of flags and lictors with crossed hands and ribbon inscribed "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE". Silver-plated copper chinstraps with flaming grenade rosettes, Double scarlet wool pompom. Inner leather cap, complete, but damaged at the ends. The inside of the barrel is lined with scarlet paper. GOOD CONDITION.
