2nd Regiment de chasseur à cheval commander's képi scarf in sky-blue and madder woolen cloth, silver soutaches and false chinstrap, ventilation eyelets discreetly present in the Hungarian knot, black canvas interior, black leather sweatband, embossed underside of visor with the initials R. M and a comtale crown. Several moth attacks, but overall good condition. This képi is attributed to Count Raoul de Montaudouin. Born in Orléans in 1858, he trained at the École Spéciale Militaire de Saint Cyr, then joined the 20th régiment de Chasseurs à Cheval, becoming second lieutenant in 1881. Lieutenant in 1885, then captain in 1892 in the 2nd régiment de Chasseurs à Cheval, and was appointed squadron leader in 1905. Called up for active service at the time of mobilization.
