GENET MICHON (Philippe Genet Lucien Michon).... - Lot 415 - Aisne Enchères
GENET MICHON (Philippe Genet Lucien Michon). Set of three large two-arm sconces with cylindrical frosted glass globe, the silver-plated bronze mount enclosing stepped plates decorated with friezes of frosted molded glass cubes. Marked G.M. France. Art Deco period (Dim.: 58 x 28 cm) (tiny chips and slight silvering). "Company specialized in lighting, founded in 1911 by Philippe Genêt (b. 1882) and Lucien Michon (b. 1887) as a "drawing office for the study of furniture, seating and lighting". Transformed in 1919 into an art lighting workshop that now works for national palaces, the Elysée Palace, embassies and ministries, the firm collaborates with major decorators such as Ruhlmann, Follot and Dufrêne, producing chandeliers, wall lamps, floor lamps, mirror frames and sometimes small pieces of furniture in a style often typical of Art Deco. Very refined production, most often in gilded bronze or variously patinated, and delicately chased." (Pierre KJELLBERG "Art Déco - Les maîtres du mobilier : le décor des paquebots", les éditions de l'amateur)
