Indochina, circa 1900, A scholar's screen composed of a central medallion resting on a geometric base carved with bats. The central medallion is decorated on both sides with calligraphy and figures on a terrace planted with bamboo branches. A calligraphic poem based on a famous Tang dynasty poet on the theme of friendship completes the decoration. Missing wood and mother-of-pearl elements.
