René COURSON (1940-2012). Polychrome marmorated glass lamp, - Lot 171
René COURSON (1940-2012). Polychrome marmorated glass lamp, mainly in yellow tones, with piriform shaft and mushroom-shaped lampshade, mounted in black-lacquered iron. Monogrammed CR on the reverse (H.: 34.5 cm).
Glassmaker René Courson began his career at the Blérancourt crystal glassworks. When this closed, he joined the glassworks at Nouvion-en-Thiérache, then Sauvigny, before moving to Belgium to work at the Boussu glassworks. He ended his career in the Creuse region, at Cristallerie Pierre de Lune in Gouzon. Following the custom of artisan glassmakers, René Courson produced many bousillages, original pieces made during breaks to be given as gifts or to pay off the artisan's debts.
