Important "Le Temps" clock in patinated bronze, the dial hel - Lot 176
Important "Le Temps" clock in patinated bronze, the dial held under the arm holding the scythe with the right hand and the hourglass dropped to the ground. Resting on a cherry-red marble pedestal with four ormolu claw feet. Circular dial with bezel, white enamel background, hours in Roman numerals, five minutes in Arabic numerals, two winding squares, snake-shaped hands. With key. Fork-balance movement, blade suspension, striking on gong. Total height 48cm. Missing original balance wheel. Operation not guaranteed, professional overhaul required. Small chips to the marble. The scythe is attached to the marble.
Note: Our example is similar to a clock kept at the Mobilier National, under inventory number GML 9729. A similar model is reproduced as a drawing in the Journal de Paris of May 4, 1810.
