Luxurious pommel gun, Louis XIV period. Flat-body flintlock lock, fully chased and gilded with scroll and interlace decoration. Flat-bodied swan-neck hound chased to match the frame. Battery springs protected by a piece following the lock. Barrel chased with a thunderbolt, followed by a sight band. Carved walnut stock and all brass fittings finely chased, embossed and gilded. Double-headed eagle thumbpiece. Long-eared cap with grotesque motif, interlacing and antique soldier. Openwork counterplate with medallion featuring an antique soldier and chimera. A few accidents and oxidation. Good mechanics. Total length: 47 cm. Fine Austrian harquebusier's work from the first third of the 18th century.
