CHINA, 18th-19th century Two terra-cotta subjects depicting the god Amitayus seated in meditation on a lotiform base, his hands joined to hold the vase containing the lustral water, one in the round, gold-lacquered; the other, forming a tsa-tsa ex-voto, enhanced with polychrome, the deity leaning against a mandorla. (The first with its head glued back on, wear and minor damage; the second with wear to the polychromy and minor damage). H. 15 cm - 11.2 cm Provenance: brought back from China by intendant-general Chayrou de Lacombe in the early 20th century, and by descent. Appraisal: Cabinet Ansas, Papillon & de Léry, Paris.
