HAGUIKO for Philippe DESHOUILLERES. Porcelain pocket dish with ideogram motif, the neck encircled by a black calligraphic fillet. Mark on reverse. (Dim.: 5.5 x 12.8 x 12.8 cm)
"Haguiko holds a degree in architectural engineering from Fukuoka University in Japan. In 1972, she moved to France to study at the École des Beaux-arts de Tours, where she was introduced to clay modeling for the first time. A vocation was born. She then trained in contemporary ceramics in Jean-Pierre Viot's studio, and then in the raku technique with American ceramist Paul Sodner. In her approach to ceramics, Haguiko considers the place and dimension of the work in space to be of paramount importance. She devotes herself exclusively to sculpture, producing only one-off pieces from clay, often inspired by cloud forms. In recognition of the excellence of her art, Haguiko has joined the Académie Internationale de la Céramique" (Source: Fondation Bettencourt Schueller).
In 2002, she won the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for the Intelligence of the Hand® - Exceptional Talents for her work Table de méditation.
