CHINA, 17th-18th century A fang-gu (square gu) type vase, in brown patina bronze, with archaizing decoration organized in horizontal registers, of stylized cicadas on the neck, Greek motifs in the center, mistletoe dragons and cicadas on the foot, punctuated at the corners by vertical ridges. (Small crack in the center and old restoration on the foot). H. 22.8 cm. Provenance: brought back from China by intendant-general Chayrou de Lacombe in the early 20th century, and by descent. Appraisal: Cabinet Ansas, Papillon de Léry, Paris.
