France. Rare 1866 Chassepot bayonet saber with yatagan blade. Brass handle with 15 grooves, brass crosspiece with double rings and quillon and steel yatagan blade with hollow sides. Chassepot-type steel scabbard. According to the literature, these may have been bayonets manufactured for adaptation to shotguns during the French National Defense.
