Alexandre BIGOT (1862-1927), attributed to. Set of three rec - Lot 166
Alexandre BIGOT (1862-1927), attributed to. Set of three rectangular flamed stoneware tiles in shades of green, turquoise blue and brown, decorated with poppy flowers. Art Nouveau period (approx. size 36x24.5 cm; thickness 3.8 cm) (a few chips). Ceramist Alexandre Bigot was one of the pioneers of architectural ceramics, along with Emile Muller. He incorporated ceramics into reinforced cement facades. Thanks to a relaxation of town-planning regulations in 1882, projections were now authorized, breaking up the uniformity of facades, particularly with oriels.
