Jean BOUCAUT, furniture carpenter, received his master's degree in 1728 and established himself on rue de Cléry in the parish of Notre-Dame de Bonne-Nouvelle in Paris.
"He was responsible for works of pleasing design and excellent craftsmanship, bearing the mark reproduced opposite. The Musée Carnavalet has collected two richly carved Louis XV armchairs bearing this imprint. In a collection of small antique furniture and toys dispersed at Hôtel Drouot in March 1918, there was a charming child's shepherdess by this master. The Comte de la Béraudière owned a fine piece of Louis XVI salon furniture by him, comprising a very large sofa, two marquises and four chairs."
