The back, seat and armrests are upholstered in floral tapestry. Stamped Jean BOUCAULT (circa 1705-1786) below the belt. Louis XV period (Dim.: 96 x 58 x 111 cm - H.(seat): 35 cm) (some paint chips) Jean BOUCAUT, furniture carpenter, received his master's degree in 1728 and established himself on rue de Cléry in the parish of Notre-Dame de Bonne-Nouvelle in Paris. The Musée Carnavalet has collected two richly carved Louis XV armchairs bearing this imprint. In a collection of small antique furniture and toys dispersed at Hôtel Drouot in March 1918, there was a charming child's shepherdess by this master. The Comte de la Béraudière owned a fine piece of Louis XVI salon furniture by him, comprising a very large sofa, two marquises and four chairs."
