WEDGWOOD. Truncated cone-shaped pitcher in plain jasperware tinted blue (Portland blue), with white cookie decoration of a mythological scene: veiled Demeter (Ceres) carrying a cornucopia, Hera (Juno) with her peacock, an angel and a putto, Eros (Cupid) ready to shoot an arrow with his bow, and a grieving woman accompanied by a sheep, consoled by another holding the hand of a child. The neck is adorned with a frieze of flowers and interlacing. Pewter mounting, the handle adorned with a mascaron and rocaille motifs. Wedgwood" and "England" engraved on the reverse. Between 1891 and 1930 (H.: 26.5 cm)
