France. Model 1882 infantry officer's saber. Nickel-plated metal and horn frame. Oval-shaped cap attached to the ferrule, three-pronged hilt on a jointed arch pierced for the lanyard and drop-shaped curved quillon. Black watermarked horn buttstock. Straight blade with full-length gutter from the French manufacture in Saint Etienne, stamped MF. Nickel-plated iron scabbard with one strap and symmetrical stinger. Total length 96 cm. France, Third Republic period.
