Württemberg. Spiked helmet mod 1895 of a grenadier of the R - Lot 217

Württemberg. Spiked helmet mod 1895 of a grenadier of the R 119. Very fine bomb in good shape with no dents or deformations, and in its original varnish, beautiful nickel silver patina to all fittings, silver-plated and screw-mounted plate, unscrewable tip, good leather chinstrap and cockades.
interior complete and in good condition, fine markings in the nape: R 119,1902, 12 C, and the size, and in the shell a partially torn belonging label. A rare helmet in its original condition. Now very rare.
From August 21 to 27, 1914, he took part in the fighting at Longwy, Barancy and Tellancourt; at the beginning of September, the 26th Infantry Division was engaged at Varennes-Montfaucon, then Exermont and Eclisfontaine; on September 4 and 5, they were moved to Verdun and the Argonne. From the 6th to the 12th, they fought at Vaubecourt-Fleury, Evres, Sommaisne and Varennes. Then, from October 15, it was on to Lille, Comines, Radinghem, Fromelles and Ypres! A year in which the 119.R was severely tested in 1914, which is perhaps why this helmet is rarely seen on the market!
