Aviation. Small piece of canvas (12.5 x 10 cm) bearing the handwritten words "Ferme du Crotoir 17 septembre 1917 " Fantômas ". Poilu stories often refer to a plane that mysteriously appeared and disappeared, and was christened "Fantomas" by the poilu. A cavalryman from the 11th cuir mentioned in a letter pieces of canvas from the famous Fantomas, shot down in his sector on September 18, 1917 (see Pages 14-18 forum). We know of a Crotoir farm near Barisis (Aisne).
