Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) Large beige silk panel, with polychrome applied decoration in shades of brown, beige and pale pink silk, depicting three doves among peonies and a tree in bloom. With two applied inscriptions, a large one on the right stating that it was a gift from a girls' school to Prefect Makimura Masanao, Kyôto Prefecture, and a small one at bottom left, giving the names of two teachers and seven students who participated. In a black lacquered wooden frame. Sight size 67 x 97 cm (soiling) Appraisal : Cabinet Ansas, Papillon & De Léry, Paris.
