Bowenite umbrella knob of slightly flared cylindrical form, - Lot 45
Bowenite umbrella knob of slightly flared cylindrical form, the ring in 585 thousandths gold with main decoration of two translucent pink enameled parts on a guilloché background of waves and applied laurel leaf friezes, alternating with three bands chased with laurel leaf motifs. The wooden handle is signed Cavaroc. Work from the early 20th century, executed in the Fabergé style, with no apparent hallmark. Wear, small enamel chips. Total length: 39 cm; gross weight: 77 g. History: although apparently unmarked, this parasol pommel can be compared with Fabergé creations, both in terms of the decorative repertoire used and the quality of execution itself. See, for example, the Sotheby's sales of 01/12/2009, lot 632; 04/12/2010, lot 76; 05/06/2018 lot 333, most of which were created by Michael Perchin, head of the Fabergé workshop, St. Petersburg branch.
